Initial Registration

NB: Student who wish to study Law should consult the information at the bottom of this page.

1. Secondary School Students from Belgium or Europe Union Countries.

If you are about to finish your secondary school studies, you should go to the Registration Office during the registration period with the following documents:

- Your identity card/passport;
- A Medical Certificate confirming that the student is fit to study (in French);
- Proof of your qualifications, i.e. at least one of the following:

  • The original copy of your School Leaving Certificate (C.E.S.S.) or, for Belgian students, official documentation attesting to having passed the C.E.S.S.;
  • Official documentation attesting to having passed the foreign examinations or the final qualification together with proof of equivalence if it is not Belgian;
  • Official documentation attesting to having passed the entrance examination for University Bachelor’s Degree studies if the student does not hold the C.E.S.S. (or equivalent) or has not obtained the official equivalence of the C.E.S.S. for a foreign qualification;
  • Official documentation attesting to Acceptance onto Bachelor’s degree courses in Engineering also requires proof of having passed the special entrance examination for these studies;

 
- The registration (or re-registration) form, signed and dated (by the student, or in the case of a legal minor, the student’s parents or legal representative). You are strongly advised to complete this form before coming to the Registration Office: Online  Registration.

N.B. Students who wish to enrol on a Bachelor's degree in  Psychology and Education: Speech-Language Therapy or a Bachelor's degree in Medicine should follow a specific registration procedure. See here

N.B.: Legal minors must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

2. Applications from students from other countries outside Belgium or the E.U. must include:

- Your identity card/passport;

- a copy of your birth certificate

- A Medical Certificate confirming that the student is fit to study (in French);

- The original and a copy of the certificate, diploma or attestation showing the credentials giving access to higher education. If the student does not yet possess one at the time of registration, they must produce the original copy of the provisional title of the credentials. The final document must be produced as soon as they receive it and, in all cases, no later than the end of the academic year;

- Proof of equivalence if the diploma is not Belgian;

- Proof of having passed the university entrance examination or the special entrance examination for a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering if the student has not obtained the C.E.S.S. (School Leaving Certificate) or the equivalence of their foreign diploma;

- For entrance to a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, proof of having passed the special entrance examination for such studies;

- Official details of the student’s activities for the five years preceding their registration, such as:

  • Official proof of school attendance (mentioning examinations passed or failed);
  • Course transcripts for each year of study citing the credits studied and those passed;
  • Official proof of employment;
  • Official proof of unemployment;
  • Official proof of a stay abroad including dates of departure and return;
  • Official certificate justifying a medical condition;
  • Or any other official documentation explaining the past activities of the student.

 

In the absence of such documents, the student must sign a declaration on their honour that, for each year concerned, they have not undertaken higher education studies in Belgium or abroad and explain why they cannot provide official justification.

Non-financeable are not authorised to register for a course without prior autorisation from the Rector. See the procedure here.

3. Students from non-European Union countries

Prior to any registration, non-EU students must submit an admission request file and await autorisation before submitting an application. 

4. Students in Higher Education

There are several options open to graduates of non-university higher education establishments and students at other universities. You must nevertheless fulfill certain conditions before being accepted.

5. Students who wish to study Law

Students who wish to study a Bachelor's in Law must apply through the ULB website.
