Creation of the pole of Higher educations in Hainaut associated with Université with Mons, in summary Hainaut higher education consortium.

Making following the modifications of the structures of higher education and academic, the members of the RHESU (Réseau Hainuyer of University educations and Academics), de facto association created in 2002) wished to evolve in the short run to an integrated and autonomous of public higher education and university pole in Hainaut, articulating itself around Université of Mons.
This evolution passes by the transformation of the RHESU into the asbl Hainaut higher education consortium in which each entity keeps its autonomy and its specificities. This asbl will give itself the means of better ensuring and of extending the goals which the RHESU currently pursues.

The founding members of the asbl Hainaut higher education consortium are

• Université of Mons, UMONS
• the French Higher Education Institution of Communauté in Hainaut, HECFH
• high Ecole provincial “Condorcet” of the hainaut, HEPH
• the University of Arts visual plastics and of Mons, ESAPV
• Académie of the Art schools of the town of Tournai, ACATY
• royal Conservatoire of Mons, CRM

Association has as an aim the constitution of an integrated and autonomous structure of higher education associated with Université with Mons.
The current components of the RHESU propose a coherent and very broad offer of Bachelor's degrees, Masters and doctoral degrees and thus play their essential part of social elevator for the young people of the province of Hainaut which, although the most populated, still currently has a rate of access to the weakest higher education by far of Communauté Frenchwoman.

She thus intends to develop to with it collaboration between Higher Education Institutions, academic or except university, likely to promote an higher education and varied academic, of quality and proximity as well as the defense of the public character of the course, her values and her independence.

Concretely, the asbl Hainaut higher education consortium has as essential goals:

• to establish the collaborations privileged between partners, so as to reinforce synergies as regards course, of Research and services to society,
• to encourage experience sharing as well as the mobility of the teachers within the network according to their competence and of the specific needs of each institution,
• to promote the Co-organization of certain educational programs,
• to ensure a coherent system of gateways between the various levels of course of the various partners,
• to make profit the institutions from the network, the infrastructures, the equipment and the documentary resources, including the access and the development with new technologies of information and the communication, available to each partner, in the measurement of the availabilities and according to the teaching needs and/or of Research,
• to support student mobility, so much within the network than on the plans national and international,
• to reinforce the complementarities in the field of the information and the reception of the students and to consolidate the visibility of the asbl in the general public,
• to establish relations concerted with poles or similar networks in Belgium and abroad.

In short, the Hainaut higher education consortium, it is…
a unit which brings together some 16.500 students, including more than 9.000 in the superior of the short type, nearly 2.500 in the higher by long type and 5.000 in the university education, organizes more than 200 educations out of 7 establishments in 9 curricular areas covering 14 directions.

But the Hainaut higher education consortium, it is also…,

• some 2.500 members of teaching staff, scientist, administrative and technical representing nearly 2.000 full-time stations,
• physical and virtual libraries,
• possibilities of accommodation, restoration, sports activities,
• religious organizations,
• gateways between various types of course
• possibilities of mobility, so much inside the network than on the plans national and international (Erasmus, Socrates, Leonardo),
• accesses to the equipment, the documentary resources and new technologies (laboratories of data processing and languages, videoconference).
