UMONS provides its researchers and students the resources of nine libraries. In addition to the main library whose collections are focused on the social sciences (history, philology, fine art,…) and that also shelters the UMONS heritage collections (handwritten, incunable, old printed papers, charts and maps,…), there are specialized faculty libraries.
Together, they have nearly 900,000 volumes and more than 1,300 subscriptions to paper journals. These libraries are also equipped to face the challenges of our time and to prepare students for the future, so they provide on-line access to several thousands of e-books and electronic periodicals.
The UMONS libraries are committed to partnerships with other college libraries and are active in collaborative networks, in particular with the inter-university library of the French Community of Belgium (BICfB), the Hainaut Higher Education Consortium and the library commission of the CIUF.
Even if all of the libraries at the University of Mons are oriented in priority to serve the UMONS community, they are open to anyone who is enquiring and curious: our intent at UMONS is, after all, to contribute to intellectual and cultural life in general.
