The CeRIS conducts research and action research on themes of social inclusion and sustainable territorial development so as to assure a comprehensive approach towards societal progress. The concept of citizen participation and trust are central to these themes. Social inclusion examines the ability of systems to promote the participation of all members especially in the most vulnerable situations. Sustainable territorial development combines the skills of partners from different sectors on a shared territory. The CeRIS thus analyses and supports participatory governance processes that provide added value for learner territories, social systems and interpersonal relationships that promote equality of opportunity.
