The Research Institute for Energy at UMONS has received a european grant (ERA-Chairs Call) to develop research excellence in the field of Net Zero Energy City Districts with expected impact on regional economic growth. Six Departments from the Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning and from the Faculty of Engineering will cooperate to set a new Research Chair. The RE-SIZED project (Research Excellence for Solutions and Implementation of net Zero Energy City Districts) will aim at developing simulation tools and methodologies to be used in the conception and realization of low energy consumption city districts equipped with their own energy production systems using mainly local resources. Dissemination of the results among the economic stakeholders should lead to ambitious demonstration projects for the future.
