Analysis of Labour Economics

Members of the department provide coordination and, with other colleagues, form part of the “Promotion de la réussite” [Promoting Success] group of 1st year Bachelor’s students in the Warocqué School of Business and Economics (FWEG).


Areas of Research:

Microeconometrics applied to different problems affecting labour economics and personnel economics – Qualitative approach to practices involved in human resources management

Themes currently being studied include:

  • critical approach of discourses on human resources management practices in business;
  • logic of action and business change process;
  • influence of salary spread and training on performance and jobs in companies;
  • relationship between employment contracts and the labour demand dynamic in companies.

 

Various doctoral theses have been defended in recent years:

  • Dupont Claire, Evolution de la Fonction Ressources Humaines dans un contexte de changement. Une approche critique du discours sur les politiques de ressources humaines au travers de quatre études de cas (2006).
  • Paindavoine Isabelle, the monopsone: Paindavoine Isabelle, Le monopsone : une approche par la demande de l'insertion des jeunes sur le marché du travail (2002).
  • Dhyne Emmanuel, Approche microéconométrique de la demande de travail en Belgique (2001).

 

Members of the department have been involved in the organisation of various international conferences, such as:

  • Joint scientific organisation of the 99th Applied Econometrics Association International Conference Econometrics of Healthy Human Resources”, held in Rome on 27th , 28th and 29th May 2010.

  • Participation in the scientific committee of the 94th Applied Econometrics Association International Conference “Policies Against Unemployment”, held in Naples on 1st and 2nd June 2006.

  • Joint scientific organisation of the 88th Applied Econometrics Association International Conference Econometrics of Labour Demand”, held in Mons on 7th and 8th October 2004.
