Bachelor's Degree in Management

General desciption of the programme

The bachelor’s degree programme, representing 180 credits, provides a solid general foundation in the management sciences, and constitutes the first step towards a master’s degree in management.

Profile of the programme

Future management science graduates will be prepared for working in any public or private organisation, in which they will be qualified for various management roles in areas such as human resources, finance, marketing, accounting, etc.  The bachelor’s programme will provide the foundations on which all the necessary skills can be built.  Fundamental tools such as the mathematical bases underlying economics and management, computer science, statistics, econometrics and negotiation skills complement core subjects such as political economics, microeconomics, macroeconomics, accounting, law and introductory courses in management, marketing and finance that will provide the basis for the student’s future career.  Languages are naturally part of the curriculum from the beginning, and will follow the student through to graduation.  English, the international language of business, is essential and is covered by independent certification (TOEIC) in the third year of the bachelor’s programme to guarantee an internationally recognised skill level for future employers.  Depending on students’ career aspirations, the Faculty offers to further improve their language skills by enabling them to choose a second language, either Dutch (widely used in Belgium) or Spanish (to enable communication in the many markets where this language is spoken).

The curricula offered by the Warocqué School of Business and Economics have been ISO-certified since 2003.  This certification, which is identical to that used in the professional world, involves the various stakeholders in a process leading to continuous improvement in the quality of the education that is provided. This quality approach, with the student at its heart, incorporates support tools such as tutoring, mentoring and remediation, which allow for easier integration into the academic world and improve students’ success rates.  Fully involved in the system, the students are regularly consulted in the quest for still higher levels of quality (satisfaction surveys, consultation on exam schedules, academic support, etc.). This approach, unique in higher education in the French Community, has been rewarded more than once with the “Walloon Quality Prize” (2007 and 2009).

 

Key learning outcomes

After completing this curriculum, students will be able to:

  • reason with the necessary rigour by applying basic knowledge to various fields of management
  • use decision support methods and tools
  • apply interdisciplinary skills: independence, rigour, group work, oral presentations, research, etc.

 

Occupational profiles of graduates

The bachelor’s degree in management is not a professional qualification, and must be completed with a master’s in management.

Access to further studies

The bachelor’s degree in management gives full and unrestricted access to the master’s in management.
