Welcome to the FTI-EII, located in Mons, just a short train ride south of Brussels, the capital of the European Union.
We represent the English section of a university-level programme granting a degree in Translation or Interpretation. Many of our former students have gone on to become teachers of English as well as translators and interpreters for the United Nations, NATO, the European Commission and other such international institutions. Belgium is the ideal place to take up advanced language studies for a number of reasons. First of all, Brussels is the capital of the European Union and Belgium is in the geographical centre of the EU. So travelling to countries where any of the major European languages is spoken is as easy as can be. Besides, Belgium is a very small country, making travel to surrounding nations anything but insurmountable. Without ever leaving Belgium you can speak, and hear, any number of languages, including the THREE national languages of Dutch, French and German, intermingled with a surprising amount of English, Italian and Arabic.
