Institute of Educational Management -
Methodology and Training Unit

Head of Unit:
Professor Marc Demeuse

The Institue of Educational Management (Institut d'Administration Scolaire (INAS)) of the University of Mons, created in 1984 by Prof Pol Dupont, has three main objectives: expertise in research, teaching, and education. The Institute is currently headed by Prof Marc Demeuse.

The INAS is involved in national and international research projects, in collaboration with, the Ministère de la Communauté française de Belgique, the OECD, the EU, CONFEMEN, the Ecole supérieur de l'Education nationale in Poitiers and the Chambre de Commerce et d'Industrie de Paris, amongst others. The aim of these partnerships is to analyse educational systems and policies, and to create operational indicators for schools.

Regarding education, the INAS is focused on the expertise of classroom practices, educational systems, school organisations and educational training at Master level, both in Belgium and abroad, and particularly in developing countries.

As regards educational training, the INAS has organised more than 100 seminars for teachers and executives of educational institutes in Belgium and abroad; it has also organised 10 congresses for education system managers and regularly hosts trainees for variable durations (15 days to 2 years). The Institute is also a training centre for several Belgian and foreign organisations, including the Institut de Formation en cours de Carrière (IFC) for which it organises training for managers of educational establishments as well as other teaching personnel.
