Teaching

The Unit of Biomathematics is in charge of the following courses:

At the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy:

Teaching basic elements of mathematics applied to biomedical sciences:

  • Mathematical Introduction to Medical Sciences (20 hours + 20 hours of practical work) - in the 1st year of the Bachelor degree programme in Medicine;
  • Mathematical Introduction to Pharmaceutical Sciences (40 hours + 50 hours of practical work) - in the 1st year of the Bachelor degree programme in Pharmacy;
  • Mathematical Introduction to Biomedical Sciences (20 hours + 20 hours of practical work) - in the 1st year of the Bachelor degree programme in Biomedical Sciences;
  • Complementary Mathematics (15 hours + 15 hours of practical work) - in the 1st year of the Master degree programme in Biomedical Sciences.

 

These lectures are accompanied by problem-solving classes which allow to put theoretical matters taught in class into practice.

At the Faculty of Science:

Introducing nonlinear analysis methods for the characterisation of complex system dynamics:

  • Study of Chronological Series (15 hours) - in the 1st and 2nd year of the Master degree programme in Physics; in the 1st and 2nd year of the Master degree programme in Computer Science, and in the 1st year of the Master degree programme in Mathematics.

 

Teaching basic elements of mathematics applied to life sciences:

  • Mathematical Introduction to Applied Sciences (40 hours + 50 hours of practical work) - in the 1st year of the Bachelor degree programme in Biology.

 

Teaching Mathematics to Chemistry students:

  • Mathematics I (50 hours + 50 hours of practical work) - in the 1st year of the Bachelor degree programme in Chemistry;
  • Mathematics II (30 hours + 20 hours of practical work) - in the 2nd year of the Bachelor degree in Chemistry.
