Introductory Intensive French Course  for Specialists

Who can apply ?

Erasmus students at the Faculty of Translation and Interpretation (FTI-EII).

When ?

From 2nd to 15th September 2016: 40 hours of language classes+ 10 hours of cultural activities open to all Erasmus students.

Price ?

The course is free for UMONS Erasmus students.

Prerequisites ?

Students need to be able to use their previously acquired knowledge of the French language to: communicate in everyday situations; speak coherently about informal subjects; describe an event; give an opinion.

Course Objectives ?

  • To emphasise and improve Erasmus students’ French language skills in order for them to settle in comfortably at the FTI-EII.
  • To prepare students for the various activities approached in the French and Translation courses at the FTI-EII (note taking, reformulating texts, summarising texts, writing argumentative texts, etc.)
  • To improve oral expression by widening the range of vocabulary

 

Course Content ?

  • All 4 language skills will be covered, i.e. listening, reading, speaking and writing.
  • Exercises covering various grammatical aspects, such as moods, tenses, connectors, relative pronouns, prepositions, etc.
  • Vocabulary enhancing exercises
  • A variety of exercises aimed at improving language in use

 

Teaching Methods ?

  • Using the language in context by use of authentic documents

 

Certification

Students enrolled on this course are required to attend all the lessons.

A certificate of attendance will be issued to students on completion of the course.
