Major Risk Research Centre

For nearly 25 years, the Major Risk Research Centre (MRRC) has been focusing its activities on the control of technological risk. Its main competencies are the study and modelling of major accident scenarios, land use planning around Seveso companies [companies involved in industrial activities as well as in the storage of hazardous chemicals], emergency planning and hazardous material transportation. The MRRC has participated in numerous European (Aramis and Shaperisk), national and regional projects. The MRRC also has a "fire" laboratory which is equipped with a cone calorimeter used for conventional reaction fire tests in well-ventilated conditions. The originality of this research lies in measuring the toxicity of fire smoke and heat release rate in under-ventilated conditions.
