The creation of the University of Mons, founded on the association of the University of Mons-Hainaut and the Faculty of Engineering, consolidates the Mons Consortium. As of 2009-2010, this body will take seat in the new academic landscape of the French-speaking Community. UMONS is a member of the Brussels Alliance for Research and Higher Education along with ULB. Preferential agreements with ULB give students additional openings for certain degree programmes.
